A good weekend out for Panthers in Egham who had two teams playing in the Manorcroft tournament.
And congratulations to Panthers U15s who won the Plate in a nail-biting penalty shootout against Manorcroft United Hurricanes
The day out had everything. Pulsating football. Penalty shoot out wins. Penalty shoot out losses. Even the little rain that hit Egham didn’t dampen the girls’ spirits
And after the heartache of losing in the trophy semi-final on penalties, the girls picked themselves up to win the shoot out in the plate final to lift the trophy
Very unlucky for Panthers other team who also picked up some silverware – the U14s, narrowly losing to Guildford Saints in the Trophy final to finish 2nd overall🥈on a sunny Saturday afternoon
It was really refreshing to play in a brand new tournament against teams from a completely different league who we had never met before – the Surrey league teams proving to be tough competition
Tournament season is time for new challenges. And mixing up our U13s and younger U15s players in a team who had never played before was a big challenge for the girls in adapting quickly to new situations and playing out of their comfort zone
But they rose to a challenge and after a slow start, the girls really grew into the tournament
Thanks to our oppositon teams – Twickenham Cygnets, Manorcroft FC, Mole Valley Girls FC and Guildford Saints who played some fabulous football. Good luck for the rest of tournament season
And congratulations to Guildford for winning the tournament. It was a great end-to-end game with your team scoring a great goal to win the trophy
Finally, thanks for Manorcroft for inviting us to their excellent, very well organised tournament
